Who am I?, Why I am where I am?
Hi Everyone,
I would like to introduce myself: My name is Maria, I am born and raised in Mexico City and now I live in Grimsby, Ontario.
I am the type of person that likes to get to know more about people before I decide to buy the services they sell. That's why I would like to share with you a little bit of who I am, and why I am where I am....
Thanks to the support of my amazing parents, I was able to attend the prestigious Iberoamerican University (Universidad Iberoamericana) to study Nutrition and Food Science. For four years, I studied the biochemistry of nutrition and developed a strong, clinical understanding of the science of food. Following my studies, I completed a one year internship, rotating in many areas of the hospital (You can find out more about my experience as a Clinical Nutritionist on the About Maria section of my website) and a Thesis in Necrotizing Enterocolitis.
Soon after graduating, I was hired by two great dietitians who gave me the opportunity to work in the area I love: Clinical Nutrition.
But, that wasn't enough for me. My goal since I was a little kid was to run my own Nutrition office. So after several months of working in a clinic, I decided to open my own practice. I was very fortunate because a lot of the patients I was helping followed me to my new adventure.
Now, you must be wondering if everything was going so smooth, what am I doing in Canada?
Well, I was on a vacation and during that trip I met a wonderful Canadian man. After a year of long distance dating he proposed to me and voilá, we got married and moved to Canada.
I know ha? Big change. I found myself in a new country, jobless and trying to translate my credentials and certificates. It was a very long process, but I finally did it!
On January 5 of this year, Vitalia Nutrition opened it's doors inside Serenity Luxury Spa. While my entrepreneurial spirit has always inspired me to run my own practice, I was also motivated by something else...
In my experience working as a Nutritionist, I came to the realization that there is a lot missing in many Nutrition Offices. I‘ve made note of what is important to my patients and soon realized that I could provide nutritional services in a far more engaging way.
So with Vitalia Nutrition, I have created a program that is 100% personalized and that is meant to cover all the important aspects that lead to a healthier lifestyle in order to support you as much as I can.
Thank you for checking out my blog! I hope you have a great week! The last one of January!
Maria.
